The journey begins, after a satisfying Welcome Breakfast that is. Then you and your fellow riders will be transferred to our Los Angeles rental location to finally pick up your Harley-Davidson. After a short orientation it’s time to head south and the journey has begun, as we ride the twisting mountain road all the way down to Lake Elsinore. This is a 28 mile stretch of virtually non-stop s-curves with a drop of over 4,000 feet! After lunch at one of California's finest biker bars,"Hell's Kitchen", we head out on the renowned Ortega Highway, picking up the pace as we roar through the roads of the San Bernardino National Forest. Then it’s onto that old moneyed playground of Palm Springs, where you will spend your first night on the road.

Day 3: Palm Springs CA - Laughlin NV (Miles:232, Kilometers:374)

You and your Hog will actually hit Route 66 proper today, but first things first – a loop through Joshua Tree National Park. The incredible rock formations and kaleidoscope of color will take your breath away, especially if you’ve never seen it before. After passing through the old frontier town of Twentynine Palms, we enter Historic Route 66 at the eerie ghost town of Amboy. As we head towards Laughlin, this is the perfect opportunity to have your photo taken standing by one the iconic Route 66 logos on the old highway. It’s been quite a day, so you can take an reviving dip in the hotel pool and work up an appetite, before dining at one of Nevada’s best kept secrets – a restaurant that serves some of the tastiest steaks anywhere on the planet.

Day 4: Laughlin NV - Grand Canyon AZ (Miles:245, Kilometers:394)

We continue our ride on legendary Route 66 into Arizona, stop to check out the burros – wild donkeys that wander the streets of Oatman – and continue on to Kingman. Situated in the middle of the longest surviving expanse of the original "Mother Road", Kingman is often referred to as "The heart of Historic Route 66". From Kingman we head off in a northern loop through the Hualapai Indian Reservation for the town of Seligman, also located along the original Route 66. After lunch at "The Roadkill Cafe" (Don’t be put off by the name, it is only a joke) in Seligman, we hit the road again, impatient for the first glimpse of the magnificent Grand Canyon. Nothing can quite prepare you for its reality, but don’t worry we will arrive there with ample to time just to sit at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon with a cool refreshment and watch the awe-inspiring sunset.

Grand Canyon

Day 5: Grand Canyon AZ - Monument Valley UT (Miles:170, Kilometers:274)

The day begins in the most spectacular fashion imaginable, with a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. After your flight and then a ride along the South Rim we are on our way to the epic Monument Valley. You are in Navajo Country now, and just to make it authentic, today at lunch we’ll enjoy a genuine Navajo meal - Navajo Tacos and traditional Navajo music and dance. All around stark and isolated sandstone hills and dramatic rock formations rise up from a seemingly endless expanse of red sands. The whole thing just shouts out ‘Wild West’. At Monument Valley you’ll see how much the popular imagination of the old west was indeed shaped by this one place. We overnight at a pleasant spot in the desert community of Kayenta. This evening you can get into the party spirit relaxing around the pool and preparing steaks over an open fire.

Day 6: Monument Valley UT - Bryce Canyon UT (Miles:340, Kilometers:547)

Leaving Kayenta we make tracks for the sleepy town of Mexican Hat. For a short time a booming gold-mining settlement, it gets its name from a sandstone hoodoo ("tent rock") by the riverside which resembles a Mexican sombrero. We go riding our two-wheeled chariots through the Valley of the Gods, which movie buffs may well recognize from the movie "Thelma and Louise". In any case, it is spectacular. Next, we cross the Colorado River at the spot where it pours into Lake Powell. With its 1960 miles of shoreline, more than the entire Pacific Coast, and some 96 water-filled side canyons, Lake Powell is one mighty waterway. The trail continues along the southernmost limits of Capitol Reef National Park, then on through the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. We ride the so-called Devil’s Backbone of the Escalante Wilderness en route to Bryce Canyon, where we will spend the night.

Bryce Canyon

Day 7: Bryce Canyon UT - Las Vegas NV (Miles:250, Kilometers:403)

Our first stop this morning is Bryce Canyon, which is not so much a canyon as a series of open-air theaters, carved out of rock by some invisible hand! At Zion National Park, the spectacle of rock formations is remarkable. But there’s more to this leg of the journey than sightseeing. The switchbacks of Zion probably offer the most challenging ride of the entire trip! When you contrast Zion to Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, Zion has a greater sense of untamed isolation. Yet the odd thing is that it’s just a quick ride into the neon lights and gambling paradise of Las Vegas. After we pull into sin city, we take back our bikes to a drop-off location just a stone’s throw away from the legendary Las Vegas Strip. Tonight’s Farewell Dinner is a great opportunity to share your favourite parts of the trip with all your new biker buddies.
