Our Route 66 self-guided car tours start from 8 nights including a night in Chicago (airport or downtown) and Los Angeles LAX airport. We can also remove these nights and/or add additional hotel nights to both ends. All tours can be fully customized to your needs.
The shortest tour is following Route 66 only, however, most travelers are requesting the option to visit Grand Canyon and this excursion requires one more additional day.
Not only we can add Grand Canyon but also we can add Monument Valley and Las Vegas as well. It is also possible return the vehicle to San Francisco (so you drive the Pacific Coast Highway), it is the same rate.
The reverse Route (from LA to Chicago) has got the advantage that we can always rent a convertible (even with last minute bookings) while convertible availability from Chicago is sometimes limited. Usually, it’s not possible to book one in last minute in high season (June, July, August), as all are sold out. We suggest to book early – as early as possible, the rates are also better if we book well ahead of your trip departure date. We can book a year ahead: vehicles, hotel rooms and flight tickets.
Please note muscle cars are not available from anywhere (Los Angeles, Chicago), perhaps with one exception: sometimes we can book a Dodge Challenger (or similar). The part ‘or similar’ is very important as no car rental company will guarantee model choice. If we book a Ford Mustang it is usually a Ford Mustang as many of the car companies use these vehicles for their convertible fleet. All our customers received Ford Mustangs in the last 3 years. Please note all these Mustangs has got a V6 engine, the larger V8 engine models are not available for rent.

One-way fee: this fee needs to be paid by you when you return your vehicle to a different location. Sometimes the fee is waived so you pay nothing (this is depending on vehicle category, pick-up location and supplier). If you need to pay the fee it varies between $140 and $1,000

Rental conditions:
- Driver’s age: must be 25+, there is no upper age limit
- Must have valid passport or US ID
- Must have valid driving license which must have been held for at least one year
- Must have a valid credit card on primary driver's name (one-way fee is paid by renter at rental location)
- Name change is not permitted once rental booked. To modify reservation we need to cancel existing and book a new one.
An international driving license is required if the license is printed with non Roman Alphabet
Car rental cancellation
- 14 day or greater cancellation notice: no charge, fees are to be refunded
- 14 day or less cancellation notice: 100% of Total Booking Amount
Package cancellation (car rental + hotels + programs)
- 30 days or less cancellation notice: 100% of Total Booking Amount
50% tour deposit is required to book any of the tours. Remaining balance is due 6 weeks prior travel. Once we receive all payments the confirmations are sent in 7 working days. Airfares are not included in tour prices, please arrange your own airfares or ask us to send a quote.
